Bermuda boasts extraordinarily pleasant weather and a distinctive islandscape.  Even though Bermuda is referred to as an "island", it is in fact composed of 181 islands, islets and rocks. Most of these are uninhabited, but eight of the larger ones, linked by bridges and one causeway, form the subtropical paradise visitors cannot resist.  All the islands feature spectacular beaches, lush vegetation and unique wildlife.  Surrounded by crystal clear waters warmed by the Gulf Stream, the terrain is low, rolling hills perched in a relatively flat landscape.

Did you know?

  • Bermuda has whistling tree frogs, endangered sea turtles, 350 types of birds, and 650 species of fish.  Of the seven sea turtle species recognized in the world, Bermuda waters host five of them and the tree frogs sing whenever the temperature is over 70°F / 21°C — which is most of the time.
  • The town of St. George is a World Heritage site and is the oldest English-speaking colonial town still in existence.
  • Rainfall generates the island’s only supply of fresh water.
  • The highest point is Town Hill in Smith’s Parish, which reaches 79M / 259FT above sea level.
  • Travelling from tip to tip of this fishhook-shaped chain of islands, you wind through land that is never more than .8KM / .5MI from the ocean, and usually much closer.
  • It is one of the smallest territories in the world. Only Monaco and Gibraltar are tinier.
  • Pink sand exists in only a few places worldwide. Bermuda boasts some of the boldest displays of this revered coastal colour, lapped by dazzling turquoise waves. Absolute poetry.
  • The hottest part of the year is May through mid-October, when temperatures hover between 75°F / 23°C and 85°F / 29°C. During the winter months, temperatures average a balmy 70°F / 21°C.
  • At one time, Bermudians were known around the world as “Onions.” The island soil produced especially savoury onions.
